The fixed link between the former separated national territories - Sealand in Denmark and Scania in Sweden will in year 2000 connect the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen, and the 3rd largest city of Sweden, Malmo, in one region; the Northern European hub for transportation and distribution. The establishment of the Oresund Region was initialised by the governments of Denmark and Sweden, and signed by the Prime Ministers of the two countries - Mr. Poul Nyrup Rasmussen of Denmark and Mr. Göran Persson of Sweden. |
